Social Groups &
LEGO® THERAPY
WHAT IS LEGO® THERAPY?
LEGO®-Based Therapy is a collaborative, play-based social skills intervention designed to help children with autism or communication difficulties. it uses LEGO® building in small groups to develop skills like turn-taking, problem-solving, and communication through structured, role-based teamwork.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
Children are grouped together (usually 3-4 per group) and assigned specific roles to complete a LEGO® model. This highly structured framework helps lower anxiety while naturally encouraging collaboration.
1.Engineer: Reads and describes the instructions.
2.Supplier: Finds the correct pieces and hands them to the builder.
3.Builder: Assembles the model based on the Engineer's directions
Children rotate roles throughout the session, allowing everyone to practice different communication and teamwork skills while being guided by a trained adult facilitator
Core Benefits of LEGO Therapy
The therapy harnesses a medium that many children are already interested in and motivated to use. It targets numerous developmental areas, including:
Collaboration & Compromise: Learning to work toward a shared goal.
Listening & Attention: Following directions and maintaining focus.
Conflict Resolution: Navigating disagreements without frustration.
Social Confidence: Practicing verbal and non-verbal communication in a safe, predictable environment
Social Groups
We carry out children’s social groups to help them learn how to communicate, cooperate, and build friendships. By playing and working together, children develop important social skills such as sharing, listening, taking turns and solving problems and we encourage this through fun activities, games, and group interactions. Being part of a social group helps children feel included, build confidence, and understand the feelings and ideas of others.
